Lynn and I spent the past few days re-designing Sophie's room. The first pictures are of her old room and you can see the transformation.
We went through quite a transformation, as well. We boxed up and put away feather boas and dress up shoes. We put endless amounts of "little girl" stuff for Bridge House and a garage sale that Stiliani will have in July. We painted over a foot stool that Sophie and I painted when she was 3 (there is a picture below). It was sad to pack up our little girl to make way for a pre-teen.
We washed and bagged what we called, "The Holy Trinity." Her baby, blanket, and pillow. For 7-8 years, they were her constant companions, her security items. Even at 8, she'd slip baby into a bag for camp or a sleepover (just in case). We bagged them and put them in a gray bin in a high closet...it was sad for me.
We said goodbye to flower-shaped stencils and lots of pink and purple and hello to trendy lime green (limalicious) and bright blue...we added at TV and desk!
We had fun! We found a solid oak desk for $25 at Bridge House. Then we found 3 cool lamps at the other Bridge House for $5 (can't beat that with a stick). We picked out bedding with Sophie before she left for camp b/c we were going to re-decorate together...well, we couldn't wait and wanted to surprise her.
Growing up is hard for her, harder for us!
When she returns from camp, we can only hope that she'll love it! We love her so and miss her even more!
