Valentine's 2011

Sophie wrote poems for me and Lynn this Valentine's Day...
Here they are:

To Laura

The Mommie I know

The Mommie I know is funny
She is the love in my heart
She is my every breath

The Mommie I know loves to cook
She loves to dance and sing too
Bringing joy and love to everyone

The Mommie I know is smart
She can fix anything from torn shirts to dead ipods
She is invincible

The Mommie I know is confident
She is emotional and honest
She is trustworthy and kind
And always cheers me up!

The Mommie I know is unique
One of a kind
and is my mom

To Lynn

How to be my Mamma

First, wear a blanket
with a small, pudgy puppy snuggling with her.
Never give up and smile no matter what.

Don't be shy or quiet
But be as strong as fire and as kind as a rose
Embarrass your daughter and don't back down
Dance as if you'll live forever.

You might limp, you will cry
But always hope
Has been through ups and downs in life.

Always share what you feel
And laugh until everyone pees
Be lovable and funny
Fire and ice
Brave and Powerful
With a smile on the side.

That's how you be my Mamma

Emily "Happy" Reeves, 11/9/22-2/5/11

Do not stand at my grave and weep

I am not there; I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow,

I am the diamond glints on snow,

I am the sun on ripened grain,

I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush

I am the swift uplifting rush

Of quiet birds in circled flight.

I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry,

I am not there; I did not die.
